About Me

Hello, I’m Fion! I have been playing the piano for over 20 years. My music background has allowed me to venture into other instruments easily such as ukulele, cello and also singing!
I love playing the piano and even got to perform in many private and public recitals. In secondary school, I took the O Levels Music Elective Program, which exposed me to a deeper understanding of music history.
Although I was classically trained, I did dabble a little into pop music and sang during my university days.
Thanks to my wonderful teachers, I’ve attained ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance and ABRSM Grade 8 Theory.
I believe that learning an instrument comes with extensive benefits such as promoting creativity, memory, discipline etc. and being able to play an instrument definitely improves confidence in social settings!
After becoming a music educator, I got to meet students of all ages in different settings, from one-to-one lessons, to classroom lessons, to senior homes and even workshops for company events!
I meet many students of different learning styles and this gives me a better understanding of how I should vary my teaching methods to cater to each student. It is a challenge that I find immense satisfaction from when I see my students improving and responding positively to my lessons.
Another challenge that most parents, students and teachers face is getting the learner to have the discipline to self-practice. This includes adult learners! Therefore, I always do different reward systems, games and encourage my students to send me their practice videos, so students can feel free to check with me on their practice any time!
With my experience and passion in teaching, I am happy to share what I know, and impart the skills to all my students! 😃
